Detailed NarrativeThe party travels to Bloodwater Fort, a moss-covered ruin on ocean cliffs near Eastguard. Blackeye stands at the campfire expecting the summoner Vikus (who was already intercepted and killed by Yolich). Two-Fingers and Stormcowl are hidden and evaluating. The party must establish they aren't hostile or the thieves will try to run, especially if Yolich's attack force arrives first. Yolich is a half-elf sorcerer serving Darkmoon — revealed here to be Yolich Fairbreeze, mother of Simon Fairbreeze, who carries a Staff of Travel bearing Craynoth's maker's mark. She is searching for Hesh knowledge of reincarnation to destroy the Gallund line. She attacks the fort with troll fighters to recover the runecrystal. The relic is a small crystal in a magically-locked Hesh-marked box buried in the courtyard (Spellcraft DC 20: it absorbs magical energy from the world itself — the missing ingredient for constructing Hesh magical items). Samantha at Fairbreeze is notably upset — she knows who Yolich is. She reveals she carries the Blind King card and joined The Card Game to monitor its activities. Samantha discloses Yolich is her aunt and the mother of Simon Fairbreeze, killed while traveling with the Gallunds. Samantha herself now supports independence but not violence.
