TitleComing Spring (152)
Primary Locationlightwatch
Dm NotesGerald can suggest ways to repair the Medallion of Targol if Ren shares knowledge of the Tome of Life or Staff of Life. The Staff requires a runecrystal different from the forge one β alternative: a soul-gem requiring 500 HD absorbed (Spellcraft DC 40 to learn the spell, 20k materials).
Detailed NarrativeNow in h-year 152, three years after the campaign began. Darkwillow is successfully annexed. Lightwatch has an informal census putting it at 9,000 people β it has become a small city. An informal budget shows a gold deficit of 1,000 gp/week. A Raven Wing refugee named Justice Tellen Humperby is over-codifying laws with micro-regulations for every special case, creating enforcement headaches. Construction of the Shield of Fury proceeds. It is a Heavy Shield +4 that once per round lets the wielder make an attack of opportunity when the bearer or an ally within 30 feet takes damage β absorbing the energy of those killed nearby to power itself. Construction of a Staff of Life is also explored; it requires a gem powered by 500 HD of souls, or the alternative is a dark crafting spell costing 20k in materials. The Mask of the Unliving (cursed undead traits, Spellcraft DC 40 to make) is also discussed. While crafting any of these dark items, an Akurazug is attracted and attacks, with a crucified Hesh warrior of the Greycaller family as its victim. The unhallow area prevents good-aligned creatures from leaving without a Will DC 18 save. Marshal Adair shows up; he's noticed the rings are no longer tracked and is concerned. He also notes that Darkwillow's annexation technically violates the original treaty β those lands belong to the GRE by prior agreement. He wants assurances of a smooth GRE transition after the war. He has also approached Rhett with an offer.
