Detailed NarrativeThe party travels north to negotiate treaties — with the Hench brothers, Whitecastle (Raynard the Bold), Redgarden, and the Black Blade Tribe. Yolich is becoming increasingly paranoid. A powerful Hesh stranger named Sorin appeared to her in a dream and told her Macklot plans to trap her soul and reincarnate himself using her body. With this knowledge, Yolich no longer trusts Macklot and uses the Lightwatch forges to make modifications to a crown of bone (Sorin's Crown). She tells Ren how to trap Macklot using a life crystal. Resbic Cassius wants to move the Cassius School of Magic to Lightwatch — some things prohibited elsewhere would be permitted here. Santus Molain, an immigrant from former Resta lands, discovers a new lighter stone alloy enabling faster/cheaper construction. Steve and Ja'ayne are being deified by the townspeople. The major event: Heartflame Ridge (700 people) is attacked by Darkmoon catfolk commander Breyald with 100 warriors and insider help. GRE loyalists are killed. Fedist arrives with 100 soldiers from Fairbreeze, accompanied by Master Haylen (Hawks) and Commander Strauss (Whitemarch) evaluating whether to commit to the GRE. Fedist orders the invaders expelled. Then Groktal and his warband arrive with a grudge against Fedist. The Hawks and Whitemarch attack Groktal. The Hench brothers show up in support of Groktal and attempt to kill Fedist — and succeed. Marshal and his 20 embedded special forces try to trap and kill the Hench brothers. Yolich appears and blasts Marshal's troops, letting the Hench brothers escape. Yolich is pregnant with a Hench child.
