Dm NotesMacklot needs to reincarnate into a powerful host with an evil bond (the Shield of Fury or the demonic sword both qualify). The Medallion can be powered by Killian, Finnora, or Steve. Heritage spell reveals Gallund bloodline connections.
Detailed NarrativeMacklot is defeated β€” or about to be defeated β€” in the main timeline. His options: reincarnate into Peter, reincarnate into Steve, or be trapped in a crystal. Multiple major political confrontations unfold. Macklot appears and offers each party member a Gift: Ja'ayne β€” Gift of Foresight (+1 initiative per level, +1/4 saves per level); Courtland β€” Gift of Courage (3/day ignore a roll and take maximum); Steve β€” Gift of Honor (smite evil as 20th-level paladin); Ren β€” Gift of Magic (part of Ren's soul bound to a runecrystal for cross-planar magic); Barton β€” Gift of Stealth (3/day treat enemy as flat-footed). Macklot's apocalyptic speech: the River Empire will inevitably corrupt the old magic, silence the marginal, and produce someone foolish enough to challenge the gods. He sees this as inevitable and has the will to stop it by any means necessary. Peter arrives and delivers an ultimatum: 'The Kesselands are no more. If you are not an ally of Trayalon, we must view you as an ally of Macklot.' He references Fedist's loss and his army marching east. He also tells Cortland Resta he owes his allegiance by oath (Pendragon pledged loyalty to save House Resta). Rhett declares: 'I am the first son of Admond Gallund and rightful heir by birth to the throne of Trayalon.' He pledges his forces if the party swears to defeat Macklot and restore the 12 Arla tribes. Yolich visits and reveals the plan to trap Macklot in the remade Medallion of Targol using Finnora's lifeforce to power it. She warns the trap won't hold forever β€” the strength of the host will determine the trap's duration. The party must use the artifact once Macklot begins bonding with a new host but before the process completes. Finnora, Cortland, Rhett, and Rayne (to Ja'ayne) all give pre-battle speeches. Peter's sister Camese and mother Caitlyn are killed by a Phasmadaemon in Trayalon. Arla forces use a heritage spell to search for and attack descendants of the Gallunds.

SummaryThe party receives competing ultimatums from Macklot, Peter Gallund, and Rhett. Macklot offers each party member a powerful Gift and a vision of the doomed future he foresees. Peter demands Lightwatch join the GRE or be considered an enemy. Rhett declares himself the rightful heir of Trayalon. Yolich reveals a plan to trap Macklot in the remade Medallion of Targol using Finnora's lifeforce. The party prepares for the final confrontation.
