Detailed NarrativeThe party reviews post-tournament administration. The Town Hall construction completes. Rushwater Bridge is claimed as Starfall territory. A trade inspection station is established there with a Gatester liaison present, but the party rejects Gatester's trading pacts and eventually evicts the investigators after one month. Starfall enacts an anti-slavery law and begins drafting an animal cruelty bill. A Merchants' Guild is set up with standard testing. YukYuk becomes Mac's apprentice for robotic defense and research. The party sets up an informant network in Mellowbank. Clarissa continues expanding the temple. Rumors from traders describe Fangtree — a giant, solitary, withered dead tree in the plains — with sightings of the wandering construct (Aet) heading there. The party investigates Fangtree and encounters Aet, the automaton champion. Back at Starfall, Gorefist's emissary arrives to demand the frost stone they believe the heroes have. When it becomes clear Starfall doesn't have it (or won't give it), Mac kills the messenger. This triggers an attack by three elite orc warriors with frost glaives, cutting citizens in half. Fey is knocked down hard, Lloyd heals her and blasts the enemy, Griva uses spells effectively, Mac and Tank hold the line. The orc spellcaster is taken down mid-cast. Several villagers die. The orcs' loot reveals frost glaives, potions, and magic rings — and their weapons are traced to the same black market Grant had warned about.
