One of the three ancient kings (alongside Terek the Redeemer and Saldaman). Feared that knowledge and power shared freely would corrupt humanity; as he grew in power, saw those fears confirmed. Rather than accept eventual plane-death, he chose to try to preserve his consciousness in a relic β mirroring what Sorin Deepshadow did with the Crown of Sorin. Now feared to be seeking the Crown of Sorin and the Nexus to achieve this goal. Galbrand Landus unknowingly serves Onyx's agenda, believing himself to serve Helmar instead. The Traveller tells Onyx's full story in ch-09.

NotesNot worshipped β feared and studied. His motivations: fears plane-death and oblivion; wants to preserve consciousness as Sorin did. The Crown of Sorin is his model. Whether he is a god in the traditional sense or a cosmic entity who acts directly (like Drakarion Starbane in Wizard War) is an open question β existing entity type DEITY retained. Mentioned across both Founding of Trayalon and Wizard War campaigns.
