Detailed DescriptionAt the height of the wedding celebration, Tray Galund is killed by parties unknown; suspects scatter in the chaos. CANON: the assassin is Madame Flicket, who frames Caivil Strong for the murder. Caivil — who in the preceding nine months had captured and interrogated the wizard-assassin Ash and learned that Tray, through Seamus Adair, had secretly orchestrated the Honor Day attacks on Swiftwater and the Redshields that killed his daughters Tabetha and Guinevere — is sent for arrest and killed in an alleged struggle in custody, conveniently silencing the truth. His champions Trevor Lightfist and Michael the Hammer return to confront the council, accusing them of betrayal and murder; their confrontation at the Jade Lotus Monastery (built atop a Hesh planar prison) opens the Nexus portal, loosing Rift Shadows and triggering the collapse of five Hesh crystals that Graak Cinderforce must close to seal the breach. In the aftermath the twist surfaces: Madame Flicket and Seamus Adair were both secretly Tray Galund's own clandestine agents — his network turned on him — and both maneuver to win seats on the council, propositioning Solomon to betray Admond and Duncan. Mathius Straight is revealed as a triple agent (Flicket, Seamus, and formerly Tray). Admond Galund becomes the realm's de facto ruler.
