Detailed DescriptionThree years of courtship after Caitlyn's rescue at the siege culminate in a week-long wedding celebration at Trayalon. In the lead-up, Tray Galund convenes the council to formally establish the realm's government and succession (naming his brothers Marcus and Craig in the lines). Reynald, a cousin of the late Simon Fairbreeze, arrives from Fairbreeze bearing Hesh gifts for each council member (an Oathbow, a Belt of Physical Perfection +4, a Dagger +4 ghost touch, a Belt of Stoneskin), and Tray gives rings to each (Ring of Evasion, Ring of Protection +4, Ring of Return, Ring of Freedom of Movement). A remarkable array of guests attend: the Traveller (performing the magic-infused 'Song of the Wedding Dancers' and the prophetic ballad 'Gilded Kingdom'); the Singer Sisters; a transformed Brandon Swiftwater (now bearing Sorin's Maker's Mark, calm and signing a peace treaty); a disillusioned Galbrand Landus (now building a library of religions and histories); the scholar Thomas Cassius (seeking Hesh-magic funding, which Tray refuses); Udin Boulderfall and Graak Cinderforce (observing a prophecy they believe the marriage may fulfill — the 'shadow of the wardens' joining the 'children of the doomed,' yielding either the City of Gold or the City of Death); and Caivil Strong with his champions Trevor Lightfist and Michael the Hammer. The union is celebrated as the symbolic joining of the Hesh and Galund lines — but the feast ends in murder.
