Adventure HooksWhose Maker's Mark was on the rod recovered at Waste Water? How many Hesh artifacts are surfacing as the River Lords pillage the old ruins?
SummaryAn against-all-odds victory by Tray Galund during the River Lord wars, before the taking of Castlecliff. A maker's-marked Hesh rune-crystal rod was recovered from the field afterward β€” early evidence that lost Hesh war-magic was resurfacing in the river lands.
Event Typebattle
Detailed DescriptionThe Battle of Waste Water is remembered as one of Tray Galund's signature victories from the years of River Lord warfare β€” a fight he won 'against all odds,' building the reputation that let him later unite the region. Its lasting significance is what was found afterward: a rune-crystal rod bearing a distinct Maker's Mark, recovered from the field. Rune-crystal magic was known only to the Hesh masters, so the rod was proof that Hesh artifacts β€” and the secrets behind them β€” were resurfacing as the River Lords pillaged the ruins of the old empire. The Hesh descendant Simon Fairbreeze later showed this rod (since destroyed) to the council as he argued that Tray was hunting buried Hesh power beneath Trayalon. NOTE: the exact date and location are uncertain from the source; placed shortly before the founding of Trayalon.
